Forever's Not So Long »
This short film, starring Garrett Murray of Ego fame, isn’t breaking ground in subject matter, but there’s something very approachable and tangible about it that makes it quite touching. Well worth the 13 minutes.

Good Design in Ten Commandments »
Dieter Rams:
Good design is as little design as possible. Back to purity, back to simplicity.
Rams served as head of design for Braun A.G. for nearly 30 years and much of his design influence can be seen in many Apple products today. (via: Daring Fireball)

Tookmark : Daily Email Reminders for Your Delicious Bookmarks
Tookmark is a simple service that sends you email reminders for your Delicious bookmarks.
Tookmark is a little side project I’ve been working on which is a simple email reminder service for your Delicious bookmarks.
I’ve used Delicious for several years now and one of the main things I use it for is tagging articles that I want to read or blog about later. The problem was that I would always forget to go back to Delicious to review the bookmarks I tagged “toread” or “toblog” and by the time I did, they were either outdated or no longer relevant.
I created Tookmark as a simple way to get those bookmarks I wanted to be reminded about in the one place I’m always sure to check—my inbox.
A sample email.
Tookmark works by reading your public RSS feed for the tags you specify and sends you one email a day with the last 25 links added to those tags. Whether you want to be reminded about articles to read, links to post to your blog, a shopping list or YouTube videos to watch, you can have them in your inbox with Tookmark. It even caches your last email so that you don’t get the same email everyday. It will only send you an email if something has been added, removed or changed within your specified tags.
Judging by the hundreds of thousands of bookmarks tagged “toread” and “toblog” on Delcicious, I thought others might find this useful as well and decided to release it to the public.
It’s simple to use and simple to sign-up for. No username or password required. So if you want to be reminded of your Delicious bookmarks by email, you can read a little more about it or try out Tookmark for yourself and let me know what you think.

If It's Too Social, You're Too Old »
Khoi Vin on participating in social networks:
I recently came to this conclusion: as an interaction designer, if I’m not actively using social networks, then I’m just not doing my job. It’s obvious to say, but social media is the evolving, messy, inexorable and probably bright future of this business.

Looking for Delicious.com Users
Do you use Delicious.com? Do you tag items that you want to read later or blog about later? Wish you had a way to remind you about those items?
I use Delicious to tag items that I may not have time to read this second, but do want to go back and read later. Problem was, I would always forget about those items.
I have a little side project I’ve been working on that I created to remind me about those items. It’s almost to a point where I could use a few people to help me work out the kinks. If you’re a Delicious user, wish you could be reminded about items you tagged and are interested in trying out something new, drop me a line.

Where is Firefox 3? »
After much fanfare about breaking the record for the number of downloads in a 24-hour period starting on June 17, Mozilla seems to be having some failure to launch. It’s now 2:00PM and still no Firefox 3. The site must be taking a beating from everyone looking for the download because access is intermittent at best.

A quick quiz to test your recognition of different programming languages. I got an 83%, which I think is pretty good since I’m not a hard core programmer by any means. But as a web designer, I think it’s important to have a good familiarity with code.

OmniFocus for iPhone »
This is probably my most anticipated app for the iPhone right now. I haven’t fully used OmniFocus yet because it’s not portable. But this feature takes portable to a new level:
Using your location, OmniFocus can create a custom list of actions to complete nearby. Buying groceries? OmniFocus can show you the closest grocery store and create an instant shopping list.
Very cool.

Rands review on notebooks:
The primary goal of a notebook is to get out of the way… to disappear. It does this by perfectly fitting into your writing situation. How accessible does it need to be? What notebook tangibles do you need? How will it withstand a beating?

Fine-tune Your Volume Adjustments in OSX »
I wasn’t aware of this handy shortcut:
Every time you press the Volume key, a full block of volume is raised or lowered in the Volume bezel on your screen. If the amount it is raised or lowered is too much or not enough, you can adjust the amount by a quarter of a block at a time.
To fine-tune the Volume adjustment, hold the Shift and Option keys while hitting F4 or F5.

Six Suggestions that Can Make You a Better Designer »
Eric Karjaluoto:
Start: Until there’s something on the page, you’re nowhere. An enormous challenge for most creatives is the fear of the blank sheet of paper. Get over this as quickly as you can. Stop pondering and just get started.
As someone who always has ideas, but rarely gets around to implementing them, this was a good reminder. And it’s actually one of the reasons things have been a little slow around here lately. I’ve finally started working on an idea I’ve had on the burner for awhile now. More to come on that later…
