The Gel Dilema »
Rands:
I’ve noticed that when most people pick up a retractable pen, they click it, roughly five times. Not joking.
Ok. I’ll admit I do this sometimes and as soon as I realize I’m doing it, I wonder why the hell I just did that. Great article for pen snobs such as myself. (via: Daring Fireball)
Why Commercials Before Movies Is Worse Than Piracy »
John Campea:
I don’t mind theaters making money off me when I get a product, service or entertainment in return… but commercials playing at 7pm when you told me the movie would be starting is doing nothing but STEALING my time. You are taking from me without giving anything in return.

Third Party Application SDK for the iPhone Coming in February »
Steve Jobs has announced that a true SDK is in the works for the iPhone (and iPod Touch) and planned for release in February. Towards the end of the post is this nice little jab at Nokia’s Open to Anything ad campaign:
Nokia, for example, is not allowing any applications to be loaded onto some of their newest phones unless they have a digital signature that can be traced back to a known developer. While this makes such a phone less than “totally open,” we believe it is a step in the right direction.

What Did You Pay for In Rainbows? »
I’ve been wondering what others were paying for the new Radiohead album as well, and Kottke has a nice round up of reports. I paid $10 because that’s about what I typically want to spend on an album.
I’m not even much of a Radiohead fan though, and purchased the album more out of support for what the band is trying to do.
Update: After listening to the album a few times, it’s good and definitely worth the $10.
