Black Cab Sessions »
One song performed in one take in the back of a moving cab. There are some real gems here with The National, Spoon and The New Pornographers. Reminds me a lot of The Blogotheque. (via: VSL)

Black Mirror / rorriM kcalB »
A nice follow up to the Neon Bible video. This new video from Arcade Fire lets you play with the tracks to create your own mix. Turning off all of the tracks except the vocals makes for a particularly haunting effect.

Last.fm: Free the Music »
As of today, you can play full-length tracks and entire albums for free on the Last.fm website:
Something we’ve wanted for years—for people who visit Last.fm to be able to play any track for free—is now possible. With the support of the folks behind EMI, Sony BMG, Universal and Warner—and the artists they work with—plus thousands of independent artists and labels, we’ve made the biggest legal collection of music available to play online for free, the way we believe it should be.
I just did a quick search of about six bands I like and I would say about half them had at least one full track available.

Radiohead Responds to Download Stats: Says They’re False »
Radiohead’s response to industry speculation on the success of the In Rainbows distribution model:
In response to purely speculative figures announced in the press regarding the number of downloads and the price paid for the album, the group’s representatives would like to remind people that… it is impossible for outside organisations to have accurate figures on sales.
However, they can confirm that the figures quoted by the company comScore Inc. are wholly inaccurate and in no way reflect definitive market intelligence or, indeed, the true success of the project.
I’m still interested in the actual success of this project and hope Radiohead releases official statistics at some point.

For Radiohead Fans, Does “Free” + “Download” = “Freeload”? »
I was wondering about this earlier and now the official not so official statistics are out. In a nutshell, 2 out of 5 people who downloaded In Rainbows paid an average of $6.
Edward Hunter:
It is important to note that Radiohead has single-handedly accomplished a milestone that the recording industry has failed to achieve – they’ve eliminated much of the profit attrition related to piracy or illegal copying.

What Did You Pay for In Rainbows? »
I’ve been wondering what others were paying for the new Radiohead album as well, and Kottke has a nice round up of reports. I paid $10 because that’s about what I typically want to spend on an album.
I’m not even much of a Radiohead fan though, and purchased the album more out of support for what the band is trying to do.
Update: After listening to the album a few times, it’s good and definitely worth the $10.

The Arcade Fire Presents... »
A clever, interactive follow-up video for the song Neon Bible from the album of the same name. Love this album by the way.
